Training & Internship Program


We are excited to announce we are looking for our 2025 intern cohort! In collaboration with the SAGE Initiative, we will provide a comprehensive course on social entrepreneurship and in-depth training for an internship with Hokua Swim. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in starting a business, financial management, and sustainable impact.

Program Overview

We will begin with a 3-week training program led by Josuna Kinsey, founder of the eco-friendly swimwear brand Hokua Swim, in partnership with the SAGE Initiative. During this program, you’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals of social entrepreneurship. This will include an in-depth case study of Hokua Swim, exploring the brand’s journey, its successes, and its challenges, providing invaluable real-world lessons.

We will cover topics such as sustainable and ethical business leadership, marketing and branding strategies, operations and supply chain management, finance and accounting, investment pitching and capital raising, product innovation, and more. You'll receive a certificate upon completion.

Following the training, you’ll join a cohort of interns for Hokua Swim under the mentorship of Josuna Kinsey, an entrepreneur passionate about sustainability and innovation. Hokua Swim stands out for its commitment to sustainability, using recycled materials, ensuring ethical labor practices, hosting beach cleanups, and donating a portion of profits to nonprofits.

As an intern, you will manage $3,000 in startup capital to help re-launch the business. Your responsibilities will include establishing the brand, managing capital, identifying manufacturers, directing a collection launch, and more. Internship Details
  • Dates: April 2025 – August 2025
  • Schedule: Hybrid (primarily remote with opportunities for in-person collaboration in Honolulu, HI). Flexible hours, ~10–15 hours/week, with two weekly -meetings.
  • Compensation: Free training, unpaid, with opportunities for paid positions in Fall 2025.
Roles and Responsibilities

As part of the team, you’ll take on leadership roles in the following areas:

  • Operations: Managing logistics, processes, and legal requirements.
  • Marketing: Overseeing social media, sales strategies, brand ambassadors, and photoshoots.
  • Supply Chain and Inventory: Managing manufacturing, resourcing, and digital inventory updates.
  • Finance and Accounting: Tracking income and expenses, budgeting, and preparing pitch decks for investors.
What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking students and youth who are:

  • Passionate about social entrepreneurship, sustainability, and business innovation.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and eager to tackle real-world challenges.
  • Creative thinkers who can bring fresh ideas to the table.
  • Organized and committed to meeting goals and deadlines.

Preference will be given to candidates who:

  • Are based on O‘ahu, HI, for hybrid in-person collaboration. (Please note: those based in other locations are still encouraged to apply)
  • Have a background or strong interest in entrepreneurship, marketing, supply chain management, design, or finance. (Please note: no experience necessary to apply)
  • Show enthusiasm for sustainable practices and community impact.
